Contemporary Global Economic Crisis: a World-System Approach

Leading economist on political economy, Ruslan Dzarasov, a professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, is the guest of the eighth program of the seminar series “A Common Horizon for Humanity and the Planet”, which will be broadcasted live on the Cappadocia University YouTube channel on Tuesday, March 08 at 19:00, Turkish time. His research is oriented towards Post-Keynesianism, globalization and center-periphery relations in the world economy, capital accumulation and growth in the modern Russian economy. He is the author of “The Conundrum of Russian Capitalism: The Post-Soviet Economy in the World System.” (2013)

The conversation will be on the topic of “Contemporary Global Economic Crisis: a World-system Approach”. The program will be moderated by Professor Oktay Tanrısever of Middle East Technical University (METU).

Prof. Ruslan Dzarasov

Professor at Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation

Ruslan Dzarasov, a professor at Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, completed his BA in Economics at Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1985 and his PhD at Staffordshire University School of Business (UK) in 2007.
His research is oriented towards Post-Keynesianism, globalization and center-periphery relations in the world economy, capital accumulation and growth in the modern Russian economy. He is the author of “The Conundrum of Russian Capitalism: The Post-Soviet Economy in the World System.” (2013)

Prof. Oktay TANRISEVER is a Professor at the Department of International Relations of Middle East Technical University (METU). He completed his undergraduate studies (1990) and his MA (1992) at METU, and his PhD at University College London, (School of Slavonic and East European Studies, Russian Politics) in 2002. Tanrısever’s interests focus is on International Relations, EU Politics and International Relations, Asian Studies, Hidropolitics, Conflict Analysis and Resolution and Security Strategies.
