Prof. Dr. Mehmet Seyfettin EROL

Prof. Erol graduated from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Boğaziçi University in 1993. He completed his master’s degree at the same university in 1995 and earned his Ph.D. at Ankara University in 2005. He received the title of Associate Professor in the field of International Relations in 2009 and became a full Professor in 2014.

An expert in geopolitics, crisis management, security, Turkish foreign policy, and the Turkic world, Prof. Erol has published numerous scholarly articles and books in these fields. In addition to his academic work, he has served as an editor for journals such as Avrasya Dosyası, Karadeniz Araştırmaları, Gazi Akademik Bakış, Bölgesel Araştırmalar Dergisi, and the Journal of International Crisis and Political Studies. He has prepared radio and television programs for TRT, Kanal A, and BBN Türk, and his opinions have been published through columns in leading Turkish magazines and newspapers.

In recognition of his work, he was awarded the “Turkic World Service Award” by the Turkic World Writers and Artists Foundation (TÜRKSAV) in 2007, and the “Press-Opinion Award” by the Turkish Writers’ Union (TYB) in 2015, among many other honors.

Prof. Erol has taught at Ufuk, Ankara, and Gazi Universities, and currently continues his academic career as a faculty member in the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University. He has held various positions as an expert and founding chairman at some of Turkey’s leading think tanks, including ASAM, SDE, GSAM, and USGAM.

Since 2016, he has been serving as the Founding President of the Ankara Center for Crisis and Policy Studies (ANKASAM).
