Shaping the perceptions of societies has been one of the most fundamental elements of domestic and foreign policy since the earliest times in history. With the widespread adoption of the nation-state structure and nation-states becoming the main actors in international relations, public diplomacy began to play crucial role in international relations and diplomacy.
Diplomats, such as Ambassadors and Consuls, are responsible for conducting diplomatic relations between states. These diplomats also engage in public diplomacy, which plays a vital role in interstate relations. Public diplomacy activities have a significant impact on the leaders and citizens of that state. Public diplomacy is essential in shaping relations between states in addition to other diplomatic activities.
The “Public Diplomacy in Foreign Policy” project conducted in collaboration with Cappadocia University and the Ankara Crisis and Politics Research Center (ANKASAM), aims to establish the principles for implementing public diplomacy, identify key activities and showcase first-hand the public diplomacy efforts undertaken in Turkey. The goal is to contribute to shaping Turkish foreign policy and the decision-making process.
