COVID-19 and Ecophobia Reflex

On Tuesday, May 17th, at 8:00 PM, the eleventh program of the seminar series “A Common Vision for Humanity and the Planet” will be broadcast live on the Kapadokya University YouTube channel. The guest of the program will be Prof. Simon C. Estok, a faculty member at Sungkyunkwan University (Seoul), known for his work in adapting the concept of ecophobia from psychology to a broad application in Environmental Science. Prof. Estok is recognized for his research in eco-criticism and is the author of “Ecocriticism and Shakespeare: Reading Ecophobia” (2011) and “The Ecophobia Hypothesis” (2018). He is also one of the editors of “East Asian Ecocriticisms: A Critical Reader” (2013), “International Perspectives in Feminist Ecocriticism” (2013), and “Landscape, Seascape, and the Ecocritical Imagination” (2016). The book “Ecophobia Hypothesis” has been translated into Turkish as “Ekofobi Hipotezi” (2021) by Kapadokya University. The program, titled “COVID-19 and the Ecophobia Reflex,” will be moderated by Prof. Serpil Opperman, a faculty member at Kapadokya University.
