Professor Masahiro Morioka, one of the most influential philosophers in contemporary Japanese philosophy, from Waseda University in Japan, will be a guest at the fourteenth program of the “A Shared Vision for Humanity and the Planet” seminar series. The seminar will be broadcast live on Kapadokya University’s YouTube channel on Monday, August 29th at 14:00 (Turkey time). Prof. Morioka is the author of many books, primarily in Japanese. His latest book, Painless Civilization 1: A Philosophical Critique of Desire, has been translated into several languages, including Turkish, under the title Acısız Medeniyet.

The seminar titled Painless Civilization will be moderated by Assoc. Prof. Sinan Akıllı from Kapadokya University.

    Contemporary civilization aims to provide us with "pleasure and comfort" and to eliminate "pain and suffering" as much as possible. This is particularly evident in developed countries. Contemporary civilization seeks a "pain-free world."
