On Thursday, January 20th at 7:00 PM, the fifth session of the seminar series “A Common Horizon for Humanity and the Planet,” which will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Cappadocia University, will feature Professor Susan Buck-Morss from the City University of New York, who is particularly known for her interdisciplinary work. Professor Buck-Morss, who has worked on cultural studies, visual theory, and globalization, has written numerous academic works, including “The Origin of Negative Dialectics” (1977); “The Dialectics of Seeing” (2001); “Dreamworld and Catastrophe: The Passing of Mass Utopia in East and West” (2002); “Thinking Past Terror: Islamism and Critical Theory on the Left” (2006); “Revolution Today” (2019); “Hegel, Haiti and Universal History” (2009); and “Year 1: A Philosophical Recounting” (2021). Five of her books, including “Hegel, Haiti and Universal History,” have been translated into Turkish. The session, titled “Year 1: A Philosophical Narrative in Light of a Shared Future,” will be moderated by Professor Banu Bargu.
